The Last Supper

The twelve disciples and Jesus
all were gathered around the table,
breaking bread,
drinking wine,
enjoying each other's company.
Jesus knew in His heart
that something heavy was about to start.
He turns to Judas-
knowing full well what he was about.
Now Jesus, He kept His cool,
He didn't scream or shout,
only said something to
the one who'd do the deed,
something of a bad seed,
and yet, it was all to happen.
Predicted so many years ahead,
the sacrificial lamb,
the one who would bleed instead.
Now, to this day,
we take in hand,
the cup and bread,
remembering with words that are said,
the Son of the Great I Am.
